WARNING: Guitar blog.

Its winter, so that means time to start on some kind of woodworking project.

I have been wanting to make a guitar for a long time, and I have finally found he project I want to commit to.

I bought a Seymour Duncan mini-humbucker pickup at a guitar shop that was going out of business a couple years ago, knowing I was going to end up building a guitar for it one day. And after playing a special edition Nashville Telecaster that had one on the neck, I was in love.

Even a few years before that, I played a family friends chambered telecaster (for those not savvy on the guitar language, chambered means there are parts of the body that are bore out. See photo below), and the harmonics that happened, as well as how light it was had me very intrigued. So I’m going to combine the two.

I plan to make one body as a practice, using cheap woods that I can learn from, and try a few different stains on. Then I’ll make a second body using the wood of my choice. Then I will either purchase a neck from the very well produced Warmoth catalogue, or I will take the neck off my Jazzmaster since I like it so much.   SO excited!!
