Slight last minute changes.
builtbyspeck: So I altered the circuit a little for the Crazy 88 between the prototype and this first production test. And, turns out, both the before and after sound great. The prototype had a lot of low end. I tamed that a bit (by 10%) in the production test build. But. After letting JakeVP have a go, he said he was missing what the prototype was giving him. So what do we do? We add a...

Im not super stoked on the Trice hiatus/breakup/whatever is eventually will be. I read an article that Riley from Thrice wrote about how he was feeling. And sticking with the theme of a few posts I have written in the last week or so, I figured I would respond to a very bitter and not-quite-perspectively-sound “Don”. Here is his comment and my reply. Music
I wanna make music. I wanna make music I enjoy. I wanna make music that I want to listen to more than any other music. I wanna be in my favorite band. I wanna write my favorite song. I wanna play songs people dance to with their best friend. Even if they’re the only ones who have ever heard it. I wanna know that regardless of income, I have succeeded because I am proud of the finished...

Graveyard
I recently got a job working at a warehouse. Nice pay, cool products, relaxed atmosphere, It’s overall a good fit for me right now. The catch is for the first two weeks I am working the graveyard shift, 11pm until 7am. I am currently on my first shift, and there is just something about it! Obvious reminiscing about late night drives that turned into early morning drives. But the lack of...

DEAR EVERYONE
STOP perpetuation the Bieber thing. The more you make fun of how popular he is, the more popular he becomes. His talent is displaced, and his ego grows with every word of ridicule as well as every word of praise. A good person wouldn’t let either affect him. I don’t like to hate. But I hate pop culture right now. So please take your Twilight book and your club-mix-bass-and-drum...

in my head is a rant on what it is to really be an artist.  Gird your loins, if you think artists care about you. JAKE

Telecaster Project
WARNING: Guitar blog. Its winter, so that means time to start on some kind of woodworking project. I have been wanting to make a guitar for a long time, and I have finally found he project I want to commit to. I bought a Seymour Duncan mini-humbucker pickup at a guitar shop that was going out of business a couple years ago, knowing I was going to end up building a guitar for it one day. And...

Interstate: Here's The Thing. →
interstateband: When something is free, you shouldn’t have to market it. The reason behind marketing is to convince someone that a product is worth their money. We have a product currently that is, for the most part, free. All you have to do is go to interstateband.net , then go to the store and it will take… Do it you lazy bums. Im serious. JAKE

Extreme Couponer. My Nightmare.
Went to Wal-Mart today. It was very exciting for me, because I got to use the motorized kart and I didn’t have to feel guilty. Also, it just felt great to get out of the house. Nikayla and I got our stuff, simple groceries and rehab food. Maybe $50 worth of merchandise.  Now a small dose of exposition, I had just seen a TLC series on a woman who kept a Y2K worthy stockpile in her garage...

one AWESOME thing...
focusonthegood: Today after a really hard day (for Jake especially) at the hospital…and many tears, I might add. Jake picked up a mini guitar and asked his mom to sing with him. Right there on the hospital bed the broke out in a little tune called “Gentle Rain”. It was beautiful…and then more tears came. Not just good…PERFECT. Love and blueberry pancakes, Nikayla Joy
